And so not just another year, but also another decade comes to an end. It also marks a decade since Wickedfood Earth was established. I’m proud to say a lot has been achieved since we started the project – we will put together an overview of highlights for our next newsletter.

Our Food Experience workshops and farm accommodation are both proving to be a great success (click here to see the great review we received on Airbnb). We are pleased to report that as of last weekend we have bookings for 3 weekends in a row. We have also had a run of booking for our Food Experience right into mid January. This coming weekend we still have a few places available for our Thai Streetfood Workshop. We are putting together an exclusive, spectacular food event for Old Years Eve and to welcome in the new decade. See below for more.

Thai Workshop and Food Experiances

Thai food has taken the world by storm, with its hot, sweet, sour, salty flavours. This Saturday afternoon, 7 December, we are offering a delicious Thai inspired workshop, where we will be exploring 6 of these mouth-watering dishes, from street snacks and dipping sauces, to soup, a spicy curry, noodles, a vibrant salad and a classic Thai dessert. After the hands-on workshop you will get to sit down and enjoy the delicious banquet we have cooked together. We supply all the food, the USE of aprons whilst cooking, and extensive notes. Just bring drinks.

When: Saturday 7 December from 3:00pm till ±8pm;

Price: Workshop only, including dinner R750pp, Workshop, overnight accommodation and breakfast R1 275pp.

Old Year’s Eve 2-night food experience

We are putting together an exclusive, spectacular Food Experience for Old Year’s Eve and to welcome in the new decade, following our 3-workshop, 2-night format, as follows (contact the booking office for a full programme):

First night Monday 30 DecemberArrive mid afternoon. We’ll introduce you to classic cooking of well-aged, farm-raised meats over an open fire, South African style, with some unique sauces and sides, matched to the meat.

Day 2 Tuesday 31 December – After a hearty farm breakfast, tour the food gardens, selecting organic seasonal produce to use in two in-depth workshops to prepare for a casual mezze lunch, and very special 4-course gourmet dinner to welcome the new year.

Day 3 Wednesday 1 January – Lazy morning final cooking workshop, preparing a delicious farm brunch, maybe eggs Benedict farm style, a freshly made quiche, tart or pâté.

Price: R3 400pp (minimum 2 people) , including all meals and accommodation for 2 nights (based on 2 people sharing a room, R500 single supplement for the 2 nights).
