Wickedfood Earth Country Cooking School is located on a sustainable working farm, following organic farming philosophies, just 70km from Fourways, close to both Johannesburg and Pretoria (click here for directions from Fourways). Our philosophy on the farm, as well as the Country Cooking School, is “responsible use of sustainable resources.”

Wickedfood Earth has 3 arms:

  • A working farm  – Our vegetable gardens are planted with a wide variety of naturally grown produce, we have an extensive fruit and berry orchard, and a wide variety of animals including pigs, indigenous sheep and cattle.
  • A Country Cooking School and functions venue, the commercial arm, offering tailor-made food events and cooking classes for both individuals and groups, which ensures that the project is sustainable; and
  • A community upliftment training project, where we are giving back to local communities in the form of skills training, from permaculture farming practises, through to cooking and processing. All products produced on the farm, and during training, are available for sale to clients at the Country Cooking School.

Our cooking classes are hands-on, where every person gets to participate in the preparation of the food. Our cooking classes are a lot of fun where you not only learn new skills but get to meet people with similar interests in a fun and safe environment.

Our cooking school vegetable gardens are planted with a wide variety of naturally grown produce, 6 different tomatoes, 3 types of tomatillos, 8 chilli varietals, 5 varieties of eggplant, 3 different sweet potatoes, artichokes, fennel, cabbage, beetroot, okra the list goes on.

Apart from our vegetable gardens, Wickedfood Earth Country Cooking School also has an extensive fruit and berry orchard, and a wide variety of our own free-range, growth hormone and anti-biotic free meat-producing animals including pigs, indigenous sheep and cattle.

This is the heart of our Country Cooking School. It is this meat, fruit and vegetables, that form the core of our country cooking classes. Not only do students cook with this amazing produce, but they have a chance to see how easy they are to grow, and take fresh produce home with them after the cooking classes.  We also have a limited amount of free-range pork and lamb,  as well as a wide variety of pickles, sauces, and chutneys for sale at the cooking classes.

Apart from the cooking classes, students also get to sit down for a meal to enjoy the food they have prepared.

Team-building cooking classes, Group functions,  corporate and tailor-made events

At Wickedfood Earth Country Cooking School, we work together with our clients to develop specialised food events to suit both the occasion and their budgets. Whether it’s a team-building cooking class event, corporate function, product launch, a romantic picnic, kitchen tea or milestone birthday, over the last 15 years, we have been tailor-making food-related functions for our clients.

For corporate groups cooking classes are a novel way of creating staff interaction, entertaining clients, relationship building, team building and staff assessment. Participants never feel threatened or moved outside their comfort zone as in many other team building activities.  This purpose-built venue has both a fully-equipped training kitchen and lecture room, for half and full-day functions, 7 days a week (subject to a minimum charge of 8 people). Due to the nature of the classes, key managers are easily able to assess staff members’ skills with regards to problem-solving and team interaction. Hosts can spend substantial time communicating with customers, during the cooking class, as opposed to other activities such as golf days where they are limited to an isolated group of people for the duration of the activity.

The venue is also available for photographic and television shoots.
