Join Mike and the Wickedfood Earth Farm & Country Cooking School team for a day workshop as they share the knowledge accumulated over the last 10 years while developing the food gardens along permaculture principles, and running a number of research projects on sustainability. They will take you through how to prepare the beds for sowing garlic, the best garlic and vegetables to grow for winter and when to plant.

Over the next month is the best time to be planting garlic. Following the steps learned in this workshop will ensure that you have a bumper crop of your own organically grown garlic to take you through to next summer. You will also receive ± 200 garlic seeds of 5 of our best growing varieties plus one or two experimental seeds, to the value of over R400.

The Wickedfood Earth Farm food gardens, are internationally recognized by Slow Food as an important educational garden. In recognition of the groundbreaking work that is being done on Wickedfood Earth Farm, Slow Food Johannesburg honoured Cilla and Mike with the 2015 Food Heroes Award for “development of rare breeds and education on sustainable food and farming.

The Alliance is an international network of chefs who are committed to promoting small-scale, locally produced “good, clean and fair” foods, safeguarding agricultural biodiversity at risk of extinction and giving visibility and the proper value to their supplying producers.

Wickedfood Earth Farm garlic has become a highly sought-after product in South Africa, because of its high quality. We supply garlic direct to consumers through our on-line shop, and to leading organic and health shops, as well as supplying organic and heirloom garlic seed stock to growers.

We grow 5 different varieties of garlic commercially, all with their unique flavour profiles, from hot and very pungent, to sweet and mild. We are always on the lookout for different varieties of garlic, and this season will be trialing a further 13 varieties of garlic.
